The Village of Orland Park Recreation Department's Fall Program Guide will be delivered in the July 29 edition of the "Orland Park Prairie Newspaper."

The 64-page guide to the village's recreation programs includes activities tailored for all ages, from little ones on up to seniors. A majority of the programs begin after Labor Day.

"Families look forward to receiving the Recreation Department's fall guide as they plan their activities for when the kids go back to school," said Trustee Pat Gira, chair of the village's Recreation, Parks and Environmental Initiatives Committee. "The fall guide also includes details about the village's holiday events and upcoming programs," she added.

Categories include adults, athletics, cultural arts, dance, enrichment classes, exercise, gymnastics, parties, pre-school programs, school age activities, special recreation, theater and trips. The Smart Living Orland Park area of the guide includes details about upcoming green and gardening workshops as well as what families can do to conserve energy in their homes.

Special events detailed in the fall program guide include tent camping overnight at Centennial Park on September 25, the Orland Park Open Spelling Bee on October 3, Halloween Hoopla on October 23, the Special Recreation Garage Sale on November 6 and 7, the November 25 Turkey Trot and the Winter Festival on November 28.

"The fall guide details three upcoming events planned by the village's Arts Commission," said Trustee Kathy Fenton, chair of the village's Special Events and Outreach Committee. "

The Arts Commission will present a jazz concert and reception with award winning singer-actress Ava Logan on September 26. The commission will host its Dark Shadows Film Festival on Saturday, October 23 and will present a holiday concert on December 3.

"Dark Shadows fans are encouraged to dress in costume for the film festival," Fenton said, "This promises to be a great event."
