Art lovers of all ages should mark their calendars for July 17-19 as the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce prepares to hold its fourth annual Fine Art Fair. The event is a partnership between the chamber, the Village of Orland Park and Orland Park Crossing.

This year’s fair will feature nearly 50 artists from across the Midwest as well as from right here in Orland Park. The fair will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, at Orland Park Crossing in the parking lot near Charming Charlie’s. Orland Park Crossing is located at 142nd Street and LaGrange Road in Orland Park. There is no charge for admission.

"The village is happy to co-sponsor the Orland Chamber Art Fair, adding to the many cultural activities in the community," said Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin.

“The Fine Art Fair Committee has organized several fun family art projects,” said Keloryn Putnam, Executive Director of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce. “We want everyone to get in touch with their inner artist. These are not age-exclusive projects and there is no charge to participate.”

Children will have an opportunity to paint their own piggy banks, courtesy of Marquette Bank. All ages are also invited to paint picnic tables that will then be on display at the Taste of Orland Park. A community sculpture, designed by Orland 135 art teachers Eryn Blaser and Nancy Heuser, will give children another chance to participate. The outdoor sculpture will later be placed at an Orland 135 school playground.

New this year is a pop-up shop that will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Orland Park Crossing, 14255 95th Ave. Suite 200 (former Cold Water Creek space). Attendees are invited to preview select artists’ exhibits, enjoy refreshments from Whole Foods Market and live entertainment from local musician Lupe Martinez.

"The Art Fair is a great opportunity to purchase pieces of art and hand crafted items or simply see how very talented these people are," the mayor added.

“The pop-up shop is a great way to get an early taste of what the weekend will be like,” OPACC Fine Art Fair Chairwoman Heather Warthen said. “The art fair itself also serves as an opportunity for people in the community to get to know the chamber and what we do for local businesses and the community.”

Coalesce will perform throughout the day on July 18 during the art fair before Home Groove Trio takes the stage at 5 p.m. Art fair attendees are invited to stay after the fair for the rest of the concert which should conclude by 7:30 p.m.

Food and beverages will also be available for purchase from local restaurants The Brass Tap, Granite City Restaurant & Brewery, Papa Joe’s and P.F. Chang’s.

High school students in need of service hours are needed as volunteers at the event.
