Orland Park Theatre Troupe to Perform Broadway Comedy

The Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe is bringing a Broadway comedy to the Orland Park stage. Ken Ludwig's "Moon Over Buffalo" marked Carol Burnett's 1995 return to Broadway.

"We were very excited to secure the rights to perform this show," said Village of Orland Park Recreation Operations Manager Irene Buikema, who oversees the village's theatre troupe. "The theatre troupe performs an adult comedy each fall and this one promises to be one of the best," she added.

The hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950's. At the moment, they're playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom.

"Orland Park's cast for ‘Moon Over Buffalo' is one of the funniest groups we've ever assembled for a village theatre troupe show," said Orland Park Theatre Troupe Director Frann Carnivele-Sidlow. "Every rehearsal sends me home laughing and there is always something funnier at the next rehearsal," she said, adding, "People looking for a laughter-filled evening out will definitely want to see this show." Jim Mazeika serves as assistant director for the show.

Orland Park's Bryan Riess and Mary Tuminello appear as George and Charlotte Hay, respectively. Cast members include Cassandra Balaskas (Lockport), Rudy Chavez (Crestwood), Gary Felicetti (Orland Park), Richard Thompson (Orland Park), Alice Trull (Hickory Hills) and Jennifer Zelek (Midlothian).

Performances are Friday, September 23 and Saturday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. Advance reserved seat tickets are $13 for adults; $11 for seniors and students and $9 for children. Tickets may be purchased at the Recreation Administrative Office, 14600 South Ravninia Avenue. For more information, call 708/403-7275.
