Centennial Park Aquatic Center Closed on August 13th

for Sanitation and Disinfection

Orland Park, IL (August 13, 2020) – The Village was notified that a Centennial Park Aquatic Center (CPAC) lifeguard, through exposure outside of the CPAC, has tested positive for COVID-19.

In response, the Village of Orland Park is implementing the following measures:

  • Following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, the employee who tested positive is self-quarantining. The last time the employee worked was Sunday, August 9, 2020.

  • The Village has hired a professional cleaning company to sanitize and disinfect the CPAC.  The CPAC will be closed today for additional cleaning and sanitizing.

This lifeguard last engaged with patrons on August 9. Appropriate social distancing was, and continues to be practiced at the facility.

Although the lifeguard who tested positive has not been in the building since August 9, the CPAC is being closed for one day for additional sanitizing and disinfection out of an abundance of caution.

Since the CDC announcement of the pandemic and establishment of workplace safety guidelines in March 2020, the Village has provided employees in all departments with gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer. Additionally, the Village has implemented social distancing measures, daily temperature checks, and enhanced remote meetings.  Employees who feel ill or who display any symptoms of COVID-19 are directed to refrain from reporting to work.

After being closed to the public following the initial COVID-19 emergency declaration, the CPAC reopened on July 2, 2020.

The safety of residents, customers, and employees continues to be the foremost priority for the Village of Orland Park.
