All items including yard waste must be placed by the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. the day of collection. Carts should be placed with the handle facing away from the roadway and approximately three (3) feet away from other containers or objects. This separation allows room for the mechanical arm on the trucks to safely grab and dump your refuse and recycling carts. After collection, all carts should be removed no later than the evening of your collection day.

UPDATE (5/5/2025): Due to construction work in the northeast area of the Village, waste collection will start at 5 am for residents that have their pick-up on Tuesday. Village encourages bins to be placed the night before. The early pick-up will go through months of May and June.

• Households that receive curbside residential collection will be provided a 96-gallon refuse cart. All non-recyclable refuse and waste should be placed in this container.
• Additional refuse materials that do not fit in the refuse cart may be placed in either plastic bags OR containers that are no greater than 45-gallon in size and do not exceed 50 pounds. All refuse should be properly contained to prevent littering.
• Additional 96-gallon refuse carts, in addition to the provided 96-gallon cart, are available to rent or purchase by contacting the Waste Management Customer Service center at (800) 964-8988.
• One (1) bulk item will be collected with the weekly pick-up. A bulk item is considered an item the resident would take with them if they moved out of the residence (e.g., couch, small tables, mattress, etc.). Please call Customer Service at (800) 964-8988 prior to collection.
• A mattress has to be tightly wrapped with plastic wrap or put into a mattress disposal bag that can be purchased at home improvements stores in order to be removed.
• Carpet is considered a bulk item and must be cut and rolled into 4-foot lengths. Each roll must not weigh more than 50 pounds. All carpeting and padding must be secured with tape or string. Up to 8 rolls of carpeting and padding will be accepted each week.
• White good items such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heather, dishwashers, AC units, dehumidifiers, and dismantled toilets may be placed at the curb for collection. These items will be recycled. Please call Customer Service at (800) 964-8988 prior to collection.
• Paint must be dried out in the can in order to be collected.

• Yard waste such as grass clippings, leaves, tree branches and brush are collected weekly on your scheduled pick-up day from April 1 through the second full week of December. Yard waste must be placed in Kraft paper bags, which can be purchased at local retail stores.
• 96-gallon yard waste carts are available to rent or purchase by contacting the Customer Service Center at (800) 964-8988.
• Brush and branches must be cut into 4-foot lengths and bundled with string or twine. Each bundle must not exceed 50lbs. Unbundled brush will not be collected. Whole trees and limbs greater than 4 inches in diameter and stumps are not included in the weekly pick-up.
• Please note that sod, whole trees, stumps, and dirt are not part of the weekly yard waste program.

Effective January 1, 2021, the State of Illinois has banned electronics from landfill disposal including the following items:

• Videocassette recorders (vcrs)
• Portable digital music players 
• Digital video disc (dvd) players
• Video game consoles

• Scanners
• Electronic mice
• Digital converter boxes
• Cable receivers
• Satellite receivers
• Digital video disc recorders

Recycling services are provided on a weekly basis. Please place your recyclables at the curb with your refuse and yard waste materials by 6:00 a.m. on your regular service day.

Please remember when recycling:

• Use your blue cart for your recyclables.
• Recycling will be collected once per week.
• No sorting is needed.
• Do not put recyclables in plastic bags.
• Containers that held food should be rinsed and free of food debris.

 Acceptable materials for curbside recycling include:

• Plastic bottles and containers
• Food and beverage cans
• Paper
• Flattened cardboard and paperboard
• Food and beverage cartons
• Glass bottles and containers

Do not include the following items in your mixed recycling cart:

• No food waste (compost instead)
• No plastic bags and film (find a recycling site at plasticfilmrecycling.org)
• No foam cups or containers (check Earth911.org for options)
• No needles
