 The Village of Orland Park Emergency Management Agency (EMA) consists of dedicated individuals who have been trained to assist emergency services personnel for a variety of situations and duties. EMA is charged with the task of assisting in the coordination of all governmental and non-governmental agencies in time of emergency and disaster, providing the unique skills and capabilities related to disaster preparedness, and special event staffing. Orland Park EMA also works with the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security as well as the Will County Emergency Management Agency.

Responsibilities Include

  • Traffic control for police and fire departments during accidents, fires and investigations
  • High power scene lighting
  • Storm watch and patrols
  • Ground and debris search and rescue
  • Disaster planning and preparation
  • Shelter management
  • Crowd control, event security, and special event staffing for the many Village-sponsored events including:
    • Memorial Day Parade & BBQ Fest
    • 4th of July
    • Taste of Orland Park
    • Centennial Park West Concerts and Thursday Night events
    • Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting & Fest

EMA is Hiring!

As part of the Village's renewed focus on emergency preparedness and public safety, we are excited to announce several new positions within the new Orland Park Emergency Management Agency (EMA). We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team and contribute to the well-being of the Orland Park community.

Minimum Hours and Compensation:

  • Duty Call Out for EMA assistance - 3 hours minimum
  • Special Events - 3 hours minimum
  • Training Drills/Maintenance - 2 hours minimum
  • Monthly Meetings - 1 hour minimum
  • EMA members working longer than the minimum hours will be paid for the actual hours worked.
  • Paid EMA members agree to work a minimum of 120 hours per year (an average of 10 hours per month) and attend monthly meetings.

 Requirements:

  • Must be 18 Years or Older
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have the ability to communicate over a police radio and utilize a computer.
  • The ability to work under difficult circumstances.
  • All EMA staff (part-time and volunteer) will undergo required background checks, mandatory training and are subject to the Village’s policies and procedures.
