The Orland Park Police Department annually hosts a Citizens’ Police Academy, offering an inside perspective into law enforcement within the Village of Orland Park. The class consists of one day and lasts for approximately six hours.
The class is limited in size and is open to adults age eighteen and older. A criminal history review will be conducted on each registrant prior to acceptance into the Academy.
The Academy curriculum includes the functions of the department’s Patrol and Investigations Divisions. Participants meet officers serving in the Patrol Division, Traffic Unit and the Investigations Division. The department’s K-9 Unit conducts a demonstration and students may participate in mock traffic stops along with other simulations. There is no charge to participate.
For more information, contact OPPD Investigations Division at (708) 349-4111.
The 2025 Citizens Police Academy will be included as part of the Village of Orland Park's Inaugural Citizens Academy. Please see the link for more information.
