ASTOUND 

Astound, a telecommunications provider offering multiple services including high-speed internet, mobile, TB and home phone, has received State authorization for work on a $34 million fiber optic network construction project to bring high-speed internet connectivity to residents and businesses in Orland Park and nearby areas.

At the 7-7-2025 Committee of the Whole meeting, Village staff gave a presentation on the Astound High-Speed Fiber Installation. A copy of the presentation can be found here: VOP - Astound Presentation 7-7-25 (PDF)

This work will occur exclusively in utility easements and public rights-of-ways in or adjacent to private property. State law allows Astound and their subcontractors to use private property to access easements and rights-of-way. The Village has no legal right to deny Astound from providing/installing new internet service to the residents of Orland Park and has no responsibility to manage or oversee this project.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After installation is complete, a small fiber pedestal may be installed

It is estimated that Astound will complete Zones 1 & 2 in 2025 and Zones 3, 4 & 5 in 2026.
