Robbery Suspect Taken into Custody Following Multi-Agency Pursuit
Orland Park, IL (March 13, 2026) - On March 12, 2026, officers from the Orland Park Police Department responded to the parking lot of 288 Orland Square Drive after a female victim reported that her purse had been forcibly taken from her person.
The offender fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. A description of the offender and the suspect vehicle was immediately relayed to neighboring law enforcement agencies. Shortly after the information was broadcast, the Midlothian Police Department located the suspect vehicle near 159th Street and Laramie Road. Midlothian Police followed the vehicle to the area of 111th Street and Interstate 57, where the Chicago Police Department was waiting to assist. The suspect vehicle then fled, and Chicago Police initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit ended in the 3300 block of South Wood Street in Chicago, where the suspect vehicle crashed and the offender fled on foot. The offender, Malik Campbell of Peoria, Illinois, was taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department and positively identified by the victim whose purse was stolen.
Orland Park Detectives worked in coordination with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and Campbell was charged with the following offense:
