FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Subject Arrested for Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver / Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding

Orland Park, IL (January 13, 2026) - On Jan. 12, 2026, the Orland Park Police Department conducted a narcotics investigation in the 14100 block of John Humphrey Drive.

During the investigation, officers learned that a tenant at a residence in the area had recently been evicted and that a large quantity of cannabis was located inside the residence.

While officers were on scene, they observed the former resident, identified as Deandre Walton, 38, driving past the location. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle which had an expired registration. Walton fled the scene at a high rate of speed, traveling off the roadway multiple times and into several residential yards before eluding officers.

Officers continued their investigation and learned that Walton had ties to a nearby residence. Surveillance was established at that location, and at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers observed Walton being dropped off in the 8900 block of Riviera Parkway. Walton fled on foot into a pond and marshy area near Schussler Park.

Officers established a perimeter and deployed the department’s Drone as First Responder (DFR). The drone located Walton hiding in dense brush near the pond. Real-time location information provided by drone operators allowed officers to safely take Walton into custody without further incident.

On Jan. 13, 2026, Walton was charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (2,000–5,000 grams), a Class 1 Felony
  • Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, a Class 4 Felony
  • Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Multiple traffic violations

Walton is being held pending his first court appearance and is scheduled to appear at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Jan. 14, 2026.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
