Village of Orland Park Announces Trick-or-Treat Hours and Reminds Residents to Stay Safe this Halloween

Post Date:10/29/2025 3:38 PM

Orland Park, IL (October 29, 2025)- With Halloween falling on a Friday this year, the Village of Orland Park has announced official trick-or-treat hours from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 31.

According to Village Ordinance 8-5-3-3, if October 31 falls on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, trick-or-treating hours are from 2 to 7:00 p.m. If October 31 falls on a Friday or Saturday, trick-or-treating hours are from 2 to 8:00 p.m.

The Orland Park Police Department reminds residents to keep safety in mind this Halloween and offers the following tips:

  1. Always accompany young children on their neighborhood rounds.
  2. If your older children are trick-or-treating alone, plan and review the acceptable route. Agree on a specific time when they should return home and get flashlights with batteries for everyone.
  3. Talk with kids about the risk of distracted walking. This includes text messaging, talking on or looking at the mobile phone and listening to music.
  4. Make sure kids know not to cross the street between parked cars or out of driveways or alleys.
  5. Stay on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk. If no sidewalk is available, walk at the far edge of the roadway facing traffic. Only go to homes with a porch light on and, ideally, a well-lit pathway.
  6. Have a great time and remember to respect your neighbors and community.

“Our officers will be out ensuring everyone has a safe night. Please drive carefully and watch for little ghosts and goblins crossing the street,” said Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi. "We’re proud to serve a community that celebrates together. Happy Halloween from all of us at the department!"
