Orland Park Police Department Announces Enforcement Results
Orland Park, IL (October 1, 2025) – The Orland Park Police Department today announced the results of its enhanced traffic enforcement efforts as part of the Federal Fiscal Year 2025 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program. These efforts, conducted between Oct. 1, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2025, were aimed at reducing traffic crashes and saving lives.
During the STEP enforcement period, officers issued 223 citations and made 8 arrests. The results include:
- (196) speeding citations.
- (7) occupant restraint citations.
- (5) electronic device use citations.
- (0) DUI arrests.
- (15) other traffic citations.
- (8) traffic arrests.
- (0) criminal arrests.
These efforts were conducted under high-visibility traffic safety campaigns, including “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Click It or Ticket,” and “Drive High, Get a DUI”. By focusing on impaired driving, speeding, seat belt violations and other dangerous behaviors, our department worked to protect all road users and prevent crashes caused by risky driving.
“The goal of this enforcement was to make our roads safer for everyone,” said Chief of Police Eric Rossi. “By focusing on the leading causes of crashes – such as speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and failure to wear seat belts – we aimed to save lives and remind drivers that violating traffic laws will not be tolerated.”
The STEP grant was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of a statewide effort to improve roadway safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities.
