Orland Park, IL (September 16, 2025) – The Village of Orland Park officially welcomed seven new officers to the Orland Park Police Department during the September 15, 2025 Committee of the Whole meeting. The police department’s badge pinning and swearing-in ceremony also recognized the promotions of two new sergeants.

Board of Fire and Police Commission Chairman Dave O’Connor administered the oath of office to newly promoted Sgt. Charles Kirby and Sgt. Jonathan Basinski, as well as to incoming officers Eric Guzman, Dominik Tylka, Abdel Mohammed, Ryan Kammer, Owen Reidy, Christian Kowalski and Patrick Rafferty.

“These new officers are choosing to come to Orland Park because of the professionalism, training and support of our department,” said Mayor Jim Dodge. “The Village is proud to have an agency that continues to attract top-tier law enforcement talent.”

The department recently announced it is nearing an agreement with the police union to implement 12-hour shifts, a change expected to improve work-life balance and support officer wellness, priorities for both Village leadership and department command staff.

“Bringing in new officers while promoting our existing talent shows our commitment to excellence at every level,” said Police Chief Eric Rossi. “We are proud of the work our officers do every day, and we are focused on making sure Orland Park remains one of the best places in Illinois to serve in law enforcement.”

The department recently completed construction of its new 15,400-square-foot Police Training Facility, located at 10609 163rd Place. The new facility features state-of-the-art simulators, a range and training rooms.
