In celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary year, the Village of Orland Park is launching a new Memorial Day weekend kick-off free event featuring a community parade, amateur rib cook-off, live entertainment, children’s activities, food trucks and the celebration will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show!

We are seeking a variety of enthusiastic units to showcase their red, white and blue in a fun, festive and family-friendly way in the morning parade. Participants may enter as a decorated float or vehicle, a walking unit, a performing group, a marching/music group or another patriotic-themed entry. Get ready to fire up the grill! We are also seeking grill masters for the Village of Orland Park's first-ever Amateur Rib Cook-Off Competition. Whether you're a backyard barbecue master or just love the thrill of friendly competition, this event is the perfect opportunity to show off your rib recipe, secret sauce and grilling skills. Expect a day filled with smoky aromas, great company and delicious bites as competitors go head-to-head for bragging rights and prizes. Expect friendly amateur competition, tasting and judging, community fun, entertainment and prizes for top rib masters. This is all about good food and great memories! Entry fee is $100. Payment can be made online or mail a check to the Village of Orland Park, Recreation and Parks Department, 14600 Ravinia Ave, Orland Park, IL 60462, by Friday, May 8.

A variety of bands including Cadillac Grove (R&B, Funk, Rock, Soul, Blues), Nashville Nation (Country), and Tramps Like Us (Bruce Springsteen Tribute) will be performing throughout the event along with fun inflatable bounce houses, children’s crafts, food/drink vendors with America250 specials, and onsite sponsor giveaways will be available. The pyro-musical fireworks show kick-off around 9pm.
