Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting & Festival

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30

4 p.m. – Christmas Parade step-off and Festival opens

5 p.m. – Official Tree Lighting at Village Circle

OPEN TO ALL AGES!

Kick off the holiday season right here in Orland Park with our annual Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and Festival! Festivities will include the spectacular lighted decor display on the village lawn, holiday games, crafts and food available for purchase, and much more. Santa will be joining us to complete the holiday fun. The parade begins at 4 p.m. followed by the tree lighting at 5 p.m. at the Village Hall Circle. 

CHRISTMAS PARADE

The parade will feature over forty local businesses and organizations with decorated floats, vehicles, music and hundreds of walkers including marching bands, dance companies, theater groups and the special arrival of Santa!

The parade route runs north on Ravinia between 151st to 147th Street starting at 4 p.m.

Parade Street Closures
Ravinia Ave. from 151st to 149th Street:  2:30 p.m. – Until parade conclusion (approx. 5:30 p.m.)
Ravinia Ave. from 147th to Civic Center Drive: 3:30 p.m. – Until parade conclusion (approx. 5:30 p.m.)

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL

The annual tree lighting is scheduled just east of Village Hall starting at the conclusion of the parade. The Carl Sandburg HS Chamber Singers will lead us in carols before Mayor Dodge and our community countdown to the official lighting at approximately 5 p.m.

The Winter WondORLAND festival features spectacular lighted decor displays on the village lawn and many holiday themed areas with free activities from 4-7pm including:

  • Reindeers & Refreshments 
    • Get a rare and close-up view to some of North Pole’s majestic reindeers. Bring your camera for your great photo opportunity and a chance to learn about them. Food trucks and vendors will be selling hot chocolate, hotdogs, etc nearby. Please no feeding the reindeers!!
  • Princess Palace
    • Meet and greet with Anna and Elsa, take your photos by the illuminated lotuses and princess display, bounce in the Arendelle castle and/or receive a free glow bracelet to keep your holidays merry & bright!
  • Enchanted Village Green
    • Stroll through the twenty Community Trees decorated by our local organizations and businesses and enjoy the whimsical origami tree, double cone and other twinkling lighted trees in this enchanting area. Receive a free green apple tootsie roll before you travel through this magical illuminated area.
  • Santas Sleigh & Snow Globe
    • Step abord Santas sleigh or inside Santas Snowglobe for dazzling photo opportunities to cherish and create memorable images to last a lifetime!
  • Frozen & Fire
    • Brrr…the polar bear, penguin and snowman light displays are great photo displays and receive a free freeze pop! If you get too cold, then head over to one of the firepits to warm up.
  • Candy Cane Way
    • The Candyland Bounce House and slide will keep your children entertained along with free candy canes while enjoying the sparkle of lit candy canes along the path.
  • Presents & Play
    • Luminous lights upon gift boxes with bows, teddy bear and free toy to provide more play and fun for all to enjoy!
  • Blitzen’s Beverages
    • Warm up with some hot chocolate, beer or seltzers. Two stations will be available near the grand hallway and south hallway inside the Civic Center.
  • Santa’s Station
    • All aboard...head inside the Village Hall to take your photo with Santa himself surrounded by the enormous 20ft tree and train set. All children will also receive a free plush giveaway

Looking for some inside warm fun? Then head inside the Civic Center to enjoy more Winter WondORLAND free activities including performances by local dance and cheer groups, storytelling and free sponsor giveaways in the Annex Room. In the Exhibition Room, make some winter themed crafts or play snowball fight game with Olaf. Our Coloring Contest entries and winners will be posted in the Grand Hallway along with our holiday and children-friendly vendors so head over to see what goodies and treats are available for purchase! Inside restrooms are also available.

COLORING CONTEST

Share your artistic talents in our holiday coloring contest for children up to 10 years old. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded. Download the coloring page, print it out, color it and drop it off at Village Hall, Sportsplex, Orland Park Health and Fitness or Franklin Loebe Center (FLC) by 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 25.

COMMUNITY TREE TRIM-SOLD OUT

Gather your family or group and celebrate the start of the holiday season at our 9th annual community tree trim. Scout troops, youth and church groups, athletic teams, and community members have adopted 20 trees to decorate in their own special way. The community trees will be part of the spectacular lawn decor at our Holiday Festival, Sunday, November 30 and will remain on display at the Village Center through January. Tree trimming must be completed by Saturday, November 29. Please remove decorations by Monday, January 5.


ORLAND PARK LIONS CLUB CHRISTMAS TREE & WREATH SALE

The Lions Club will be selling Christmas trees and wreaths daily, starting November 21 until the trees are sold out.
